Buy a Bed, Save a Life Appeal

Buy a Bed, Save a Life AppealHere at Gloucester House we have recently launched our fundraising appeal to enable us to offer a few assisted places for people that are unable to access funding for treatment.

With funds raised we can provide a service for a lot of people who wouldn’t otherwise get the opportunity to turn their life around. I’m talking about people from the street, prison, hostels and other such places where addiction, hopelessness and despair have become part of their everyday life, and the lives of the families that care for them. Supporting one vulnerable person alone can benefit many more as a consequence and help them escape a marginalised existence that may have been their life for many years.

For every £5400 raised a person can have three months therapeutic treatment which will enable them to turn their lives around for the better, equip them with learning and life skills, find safe supported move on accommodation, gain further learning and development and build up supported networks for the future.

Addiction is a matter of life or death for many people that are now literally living and existing on the fringes of society. It doesn’t discriminate and can affect people from all walks of life.

For every £1.00 invested in treatment £9.50 is saved from the NHS and Criminal Justice budgets alone.

There are many different ways in which you can support our work at Gloucester House. By taking part in a supporting event like a run or bike ride, by attending one of our forthcoming events, by organising an event in your local group, college or church. Or just by offering us a donation however large or small, as it all helps us to achieve our aim, ‘To Buy a Bed and Save a life’.

Please use our contact form to request details of how to make a donation.

Our recent fundraising events have included:

A Rock & Blues Extravanganza 26th August 2011

A further concert was organised by Phil Spalding which raised over £1800 towards our Buy A Bed Appeal. The concert was a fantastic success and the special guests included Bernie Marsden (guitarist from Whitesnake), Rick Fenn (10cc on guitar), Pete Howarth (The Hollies on vocals), Matt Clifford (Mick Jagger’s band on keys) and Ian Thomas (Eric Clapton’s band on drums).
